Terms of Service

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@platecost.io if you suspect unauthorized use.

The Service is intended for business use by restaurants, food service operators, and their authorized team members. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annual, as selected at signup) through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Where offered, free trials convert to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand. We will indicate trial terms (length, and whether a payment method is required to start) at signup.

You may cancel at any time through your account billing settings or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not provide prorated refunds for partial periods except where required by law or stated otherwise at the time of purchase.

We may change subscription pricing prospectively. For existing subscribers, price changes take effect no sooner than the next renewal following at least 30 days' notice.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation;
• Upload content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes a third party's rights;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or circumvent the Service's security or usage limits;
• Use automated means to scrape or extract data beyond what the Service's documented APIs permit;
• Resell, sublicense, or provide the Service to third parties as a bureau or service-bureau offering without our written consent;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, with notice where practicable.

You own the data you upload to the Service, including invoices, recipes, menus, and other business records ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and analyze Customer Data solely to provide and improve the Service, including AI-based data extraction and cost analysis as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data you upload, and for having the rights necessary to share it with us.

The Service uses artificial intelligence (including AWS Bedrock and Amazon Textract) to extract data from invoices and generate cost analysis, recommendations, and insights. This output is provided for informational purposes only, may contain errors, and does not constitute financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice. You are responsible for independently verifying any figures before relying on them for business or financial decisions.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PLATECOST WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Either party may terminate these Terms by ceasing use of the Service and cancelling any active subscription. We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or as required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive (including Sections 4–6 and 9) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date and version identifier on this page, and where required, communicated in-app for re-acceptance. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
